A Day on Daniel Island
In the early 2000s the Daniel Island Development Company set out to create an island town that would become a vibrant, engaging, community-centered place to live, work and play. Today, the island is known for its beautiful parks and trails, schools, and world-class resort amenities. It has become a popular destination for both tourists and residents alike. The island is home to numerous restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues, as well as a thriving arts and culture scene. It hosts a variety of annual events and festivals, including the Charleston Open tennis tournament.
A perfect DI day starts with coffee at The Dime at the Waterfront. The park offers a picnic area, small beach, and a hiking trail along the river. Grab lunch at Viva Tacos & Tequila. Spend the afternoon kayaking or on a standup paddle board. The water and marsh surrounding Daniel Island are magical! The best dinner spots are Kingstide and Sermet's Courtyard. There is a Baskin Robbins for dessert.
There's a ferry from DI to the historic peninsula and there's a marina if you prefer to arrive on the island by boat.
Evenings are best spent at concerts at the Credit One stadium. Its intimate size and breezy location on the river make it perfect for outdoor concerts. The best show I've seen there was Elton John - just wow! The Charleston Open tournament is a favorite event drawing the top female tennis stars from across the globe.
