Fast and French

There are a few special spots downtown that are so authentic you feel like you've traveled to a different country. Fast & French aka Gaulart & Maliclet is one such place and happens to be our favorite spot for a drop-in weekend breakfast. We ride our bikes over for the authentic french fare, friendly staff, homemade hibiscus punch for me, and a french press coffee for my husband Daniel. They always have a brunch special served over local grits, which is the best value at $15 because it includes coffee or a glass of wine - leave it to the French to drink wine with breakfast! The Croq Monsieur is a staple, and they have gourmet french mustard upon request. Their gazpacho is a delicious cucumber/yogurt combo, and the fruit salad comes garnished with slivered almonds. The AC isn't all that effective, and they don't ice their water - which adds to the french authenticity and charm if you ask me!
