Appliance Advice
Choosing large appliances for your home can be daunting - especially if you consider resale impact (which we always recommend). Buyers at different price points have varying expectations on appliance quality. We've put together this list to help guide your selection.
Here are brand recommendations based on different home values. You can go with a budget brand (like Frigidaire or Amana) on a less expensive home. But once you get to $350,000 home value, the brand starts to matter more.
$350-$500k: Whirlpool, Maytag, GE
Whirlpool 30-in 4 Burners 5-cu ft Self-Cleaning Slide-In Gas Range - $1400
$500k-$800k: LG, Samsung, Bosch
LG 30-in 5 Burners 6.3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Convection Oven Slide-In Gas Range -$1800
$800k-$1 million: KitchenAid, Jenn Air, Cafe
KitchenAid 30-in 5 Burners 6.5-cu ft Self-Cleaning Convection Oven Slide-In Gas Range - $2800
$1.5 million +: Viking, Wolf/Sub-Zero, Miele, Thermodor
Viking Professional 5 Series 5.1 Cu. Ft. Freestanding Gas Convection Range - $5700
More appliance advice:
All appliances will automatically convey except refrigerator, washer & dryer. Buyers expect the fridge to convey, but it's negotiable.
Stainless steel remains the preferred, timeless finish - fingerprint free if it's an option
Always opt for the counter-depth refrigerator. The gallery style is most popular, but side by sides have great functionality and shouldn't be ignored.
Go with a slide in range whenever possible, even if it means replacing your 3" countertop backsplash with tile.
Everyone seems to prefer gas over electric. If you have to replace your electric stove, consider tying in to natural gas or a propane tank. It's almost always worth the expense.
If you have to stick with electric, go with a smooth glass top vs coils.
Be prepared to be patient. COVID has upset supply chains, making delivery time on appliances ridiculously long.
Many of these brands offer products in various price ranges, so there's certainly some overlap. We are always available to weigh in on your selection.
