The Charleston area attracts newcomers everyday – industry is booming, development is in full swing, and yet the adored Charleston lifestyle has remained much the same. Charleston is made up of a collection of enclaves that offer something for everyone. Here is an overview of our areas:
In two words: historic, urban. It’s hard to think of a place that represents southern charm and hospitality as perfectly as downtown Charleston. The Historic District serves asa living museum with a variety of things to do and see, making it not only a wonderful place to visit, but an even better place to live. Further up the Peninsula, discover the Wagener Terrace and Hampton Park neighborhoods of cottage style homes and tree-lined streets a short bike ride from downtown. The Bridge Run in April and Spoleto Festival in June are must-dos!
In two words: relaxed, laid back. The Town of James Island is nestled among the deep blue waters of the Charleston Harbor and the meandering Stono and Folly Rivers. James Island is conveniently located between downtown Charleston and Folly Beach and has protected the small-town, rural feel its residents and visitors know and love.
In two words: eclectic, established. West Ashley acquired its name from its location just west of the Ashley River. The town is characterized by scenic waterfront views and its residents enjoy boating on the river. Its rich history as Charleston’s oldest suburb offers residents 100-year-old homes while its recent growth also bringsbrand new construction.
